NifflasNifflas has created three absolutely beautiful and magnificent games (Within a Deep Forest, Knytt, Knytt Stories), as well as several "meh" games, which are unlinked on his website.
WaDF puts you in the role of a bouncing ball tasked with a monumentous task, and, while it's hard, it's very good. I tend to hate ball-physics, but WaDF does it perfect, and, combined with the other aspects of the game, makes it excellent.
Knytt is also good. Tasked with finding your way home, you must travel throughout a massive world in search of items to bring you home. It's a bit confusing at first, as it just dumps you into the game, but very good and very atmospheric.
Knytt Stories is the spiritual successor to Knytt that is similar but different. One major difference is that Knytt Stories allows for user-created levels, providing endless replayability. The real game comes with only one level, the Machine, and for the full experience you should download the first official expansion pack (A Strange Dream) and play those levels as well. Note that An Underwater Adventure shouldn't be played until you've beaten WaDF, and that ASD is probably one of the best works Nifflas has ever put together.
Nifflas' games all share several traits: Great music, beautiful graphics and atmosphere, and fun gameplay. Despite not being aimed at "gamers," they can be damn hard at times, so I think they'd fit with the theme of the site.

Fantastic game
Thanks to the suggestion, I had a little look at the developer's site and decided to download this one: it's lovely! The graphics and atmosphere are amazing, so simple and yet so beautiful. Although the game involves travelling for long distances, you won't mind because it's all just so charming. Definitely an experience as well as a game, it's pretty relaxing as well as fun. Only downside is I could see is it getting frustrating if you get stuck, but that's just the way this sort of game has to be I guess.
The thing is....
The thing is, you can never really get stuck. At the very least, you always know the direction the next part is in, which is useful info.
It's a very good game. If you like it, you really NEED to try out Knytt Stories. Every aspect of the game has been improved.
You'll probably want to download the official expansion, A Strange Dream, too, as the scenario that comes with the installer is a littler short.
Played this in small doses,
Played this in small doses, and just finished it. Absolutely gorgeous game. I shall now move onto Knytt Stories, sounds like it will be even better!
