Yet another creation from TheJBurger showing off his talent for innovative design.
Chatroom is a piece of interactive fiction that uses the conceit of being set in an online IRC chatroom to justify its text-based gameplay (hence the name). The game takes place in a world where humanity has been driven underground by a robot uprising, similar to the backstory of Terminator or The Matrix. You're talking to someone on the other end of the line, and the goal is to convince him you're a human and to meet with you on the surface.
The concept is good, but the overall execution is rather unimpressive. The parser is limited and can be a bit unintuitive at times; it seems to only check for certain specific key words or phrases, which can sometimes lead to some rather non sequitur dialogue from the PoV of the player (sort of undermining the whole point of the game). The admin character (Roger) does drop some hints from time to time if you seem to be getting stuck, but these are quite vague sometimes. Fortunately, there's a quasi-walkthrough on the Adventure Game Studio Forums if you really can't continue any further. Still, despite its flaws, it's a creative use of the IF formula that should keep you amused for the 10-20 minutes it takes you to play through.
