So, the Japanese have a whole market of sexually explicit games ("hentai games"). A number have been translated and released in the US, and I've played a few of them. A lot of them, while they have good writing and (ahem) images, are little more than glorified Choose-Your-Own-Adventure games. Some people over here in the West have tried to create a few, but the bulk of them consist of images pulled off of Google with a few quiz questions slapped on.

Eventually I thought to myself, "I could make a sex game that's actually interesting". So I found an artist and, after a while, we created and released this game, Aching Dreams. (The rest of the title is an attention-grabber.) Yes, this is my game.

The gameplay itself is pretty simplistic, a tiny resource-management thing. But it's reasonably polished and the characters and story are completely original, with art created exclusively for this game. There's some reasonably good writing and a few good jokes. There are "achievements" to unlock, which also give you "cheats" (the word "cheat" may be a misnomer, as you need the codes to obtain the harder endings). And of course, if you do well, there's sex.

So, it may not be groundbreaking, but it's an indie game that tries something not often tried.

Avalanche is simply the best web-game I've ever played. You know how Diablo took the hack-n-slash mechanic, distilled it, then put it to an endless field of beautiful stochastic patterns, dungeons and bosses and special weapons? Avalanche does the same, in a simpler way, to platforming. You control what appears to be a block of tofu; you can move left and right, you can jump, and most importantly you can hang-slide down vertical surfaces and jump off them, like a tofu ninja (perhaps recalling memories of that secret mode in Resident Evil 2, speed-running with a knife, a sentiment not removed from hardcore play of Avalanche). You've got an endless torrent of blocks, big and small with trivial color variations, coming down from the sky, and an ocean of red liquid rising beneath. Get as high as you can without getting crushed or touching the liquid.
