glowingeyegamesShooting Star is munge between a space shmup and a mouse-avoidance game. The position of your ship is determined by the mouse; it shoots continuously (no button-mashing), in the cardinal directions simultaneously, then at a 45 degree skew, and repeat. Call it a "no-button game," in fact.
Asteroids that behave ala Asteroids float around, and every few seconds a wave of attacking enemy ships shows up. Avoidance = survival, but to score points, you have to pass through little icons left by enemy ships when you kill them. As with a classic shmup, you have three lives, but gain additional ones at certain score levels. There are fifty waves of attackers.
Nothing hugely original here, though I haven't seen this control scheme before; and experienced shmuppers should have little problem clearing all but perhaps the toughest waves. Still, it's a nicely polished little game, for what it is.
