Sidescroller. You are a repulsive drooling green guy, chasing a woman. Cops chase you; space-bar to kill 'em, up-arrow to jump. If they get you, there's a brief interlude telling you you're restrained and jailed for one year, then back to the pursuit.

When you "get" the girl, you're on to the next level. Tougher cops. The woman's baby is now a girl. Difficulty ramps up by level, you're still obsessively chasing the couple. Songs about love and incest. A definite story (with, apparently, multiple endings, although I only played to one). Weird sound effects, difficulty getting to the bullet-hell level (though this is no shmup). Disturbing. Smoothly executed. Hard to play (though the designer claims there's dynamic difficulty adjustment).

This is actually, in its own odd way, quite a polished game. Quite funny, with an uneasy edge to it, like -- wait, that's not actually funny.

Worth a play, yes.

Truly honoured

Jim McGinley here (I created the game). I read playthisthing weekly, and I'm honoured to be considered "Worth a play"!

The game does feature dynamic difficulty adjustment. It's an action game your grandfather can play (seriously). If you get caught a few times quickly, the game gets easier. If you successfully evade the police for awhile, the game gets harder. There are 4 distinct levels subtly indicated by the colour of the border (blue = easy, red = medium, white = hard, glowing white = extreme). Screenshot shows that Greg was downgraded to easy :)

There is only one ending. Everyone, regardless of difficulty, gets the same story and ending. Note: Once you finish the game you are not allowed to play it again.

The combination of dynamic difficulty and one ending hopefully ensures everyone will have a good time. Gamers who lack skillz can enjoy the game and see everything it has to offer. Veterans will find a decent challenge, and no incentive to "game" the system.

The goal was "Wild E. Coyote catching Road Runner" funny. However, the final combination of theme, graphics, music and sound turned out more sinister than expected. I was hoping the story would offset this "uneasy edge". Feedback indicates I was somewhat successful, but not entirely.
