Race for the Galaxy AI is a fanware of the Race for the Galaxy cardgame, and expansions designed by Thomas Lehmann. Keldon Jones is an excellent developer, and his artificial intelligence is super strong. The program has been updated numerous times for both UI and AI improvements. few recommendations
- Start without the expansions, and then add them one by one. There's enough depth in the base game for 100+ plays, and each expansion refreshes it and makes it new. You're losing out on that progression if you just start with everything (not to mention it'll be a confusing experience and you won't learn it as well).
- Play it more than once in your first session. The first time you will be confused, don't let that put you off; you'll get used to the symbols and start figuring it out.
- Just buy a copy and play it in person! Preferably with someone else who hasn't played before. It's a beautiful game to learn, as you play it dozens of times new strategies will unfold. Playing against someone who already knows all about it (as the AI does!) removes that joy of mutual discovery. Also, you'll lose a lot.
