I don't often feature two-player games, with people whacking on the opposite site of the keyboard, because, well, the basic dynamic sucks. And anyway, we PC gamers are basically recluses. If we had friends, we'd be playing board or tabletop roleplaying games, and even when we play online, we generally prefer to solo instead of dealing with a bunch of whining guild mates. So I'm left testing a 2-player game playing left-hand-against-right, which really sucks, and anyway, I suspect the portion of our readers who'd play such a thing is small.

But Make My Head Grow is a hoot.

The basic dynamic is this: two black-and-white crudely drawn characters occupy boxes along a line. Their goal: push the other guy off the edge of the line, where he will plummet to (presumably) his death. Essentially, you do this by hurling yourself against your box, sliding it along the line and pushing the other fellow's box -- but of course, the characters begin with identical mass. Hence the name of the game; by slamming your head on the ground (producing a red smear), you make your head grow. This increases your mass, and therefore the resulting impulse when you hurl yourself against the side of your box. Consequently, there's a time/mass trade-off, with the two players slamming their heads repeatedly into the ground, and each making a judgment as to when's the right moment to hurl.

Pretty twisted, and marginally amusing; you're not going to play this game obsessively, but it has a bit of an "oh my god" shock value, with resultant giggles, for at least a few plays.

Oh, and at the end of it, an excellent punk-ish song plays with the same theme as the game.

Stop listening to me and give it a play.

ok well this game was, err

this game was totally and incredibly awesome.

Thank you playthisthing, thank you game designer, thank you internet, thank you America.

woot, now go play it!

Well, on the America

Well, on the America thing... The developer is Danish.

The basic gameplay mechanic

The basic gameplay mechanic of this game (up your power vs attack the other player tradeoffs) reminds me a lot of an old NES game called Caveman Games that had an "olympic sport" of making a fire with a very similar mechanic and very fun to play because of it.

Deciding when to smack the hell out of your friends head and when to work on your fire was definitely a good time.

Unfortunately I couldn't get this game to work for me (Start button was unclickable).

Not very Amurican.

Wait, no thanking baseball or apple pie? Uncle Sam shakes his head in shame.

on the America thing

well, uh, America, ummm...encourages global freedom
(if not in recent policy, then in principle)...and that enables people to do stuff, like develop cool little flash games...or something.

that's a solid defense of my patriotic outburst, right?

I got no problem with it.

I got no problem with it. But Denmark's cool, too. If a little dull.

killer.

the end theme is incredible. i need to play this game with a friend soon. i'll get to it. and 4' 33" of uniqueness as well.

Oh the song !

I have to say, that song is pretty catchy. I love it in fact.
As for multiplayer games, I myself play Druid soccer (url=http://www.kloonigames.com/blog/games/druid) whenever I have my best pal at hand, so it's not that rare.
