Today I learned what Tim from Braid felt like. But then I played the sonic, click-harmonic beats of a shmup on acid puked out into code, and I'm just tap-tap-tapping because I think I'm making music in a visualizer. I still cannot tell to what extent I am making music or just listening to it. It's fucking fantastic, it reminded me of who I am. It's the mutant king of a sub-genre of triptastic games, outpacing Torus Trooper while out-tripping This Is Infinity.
Get in touch with who you are, feeeeeeel the music. Figure out how all the moving pieces work. There's actual gameplay in this visualizer and it's quite satisfying. Once you get the underlying system to work things shift gears and start raging, explosions all over the place, and you're clicking away triggering cascades of synth beats that make you feel like an autistic cyborg DJ. If your dopamine receptors are already being squeezed to the limit by pharmacological influences, legal or otherwise, you may have already been experiencing this... but you didn't know it - until now!
p.s. She came back as I was finishing that last paragraph, now I feel more like Super Mario.
