IndieCade Opens Submissions for 2008 Festivals and Announces Worldwide Slate of Events

IndieCade today announced an open call for games submissions for its 2008 events. The IndieCade 2008 flagship festival will take place July 10-13 at the contemporary art gallery Open Satellite in Bellevue, located in Seattle’s technologically progressive Eastside. The opening festival launches a half-dozen global exhibitions and showcases that highlight the creativity, vision and work of leading independent game designers.

Call for Submissions:

Indiecade invites independent game artists and designers from around the world to submit interactive media of all types – from art to commercial, ARG to abstract, serious to shooter – for consideration. Work-in-progress is encouraged.

A diverse jury of industry leaders will select entries for top prizes at the IndieCade @ Open Satellite Festival. All entries for the Festival will also receive consideration for presentation at the other 2008 IndieCade international showcase exhibitions.

Submissions Deadline: April 11, 2008 at Midnight PST.

Greater Seattle houses many of the world’s largest commercial videogame developers and publishers. IndieCade’s flagship 2008 festival @ Open Satellite will be the first major exhibition of international, independent videogames and videogame art in the area and will draw a diverse new audience, comprising savvy professionals interested in cutting-edge digital media, game developers, publishers, artists and enthusiasts of all ages. The gallery exhibition, featuring games selected by an international jury, is open to the public and complemented by a sequence of leading industry speakers, workshops and featured designers, and ongoing creative/social game play. An award reception, intimate evening programs, and VIP special events will anchor the program. Event organizers include IndieCade Founder Stephanie Barish, IndieCade Festival Chair Celia Pearce, IndieCade Festival Director Sam Roberts, and Open Satellite Exhibitions Director Abigail Guay.
