Confronter is a little indie FPS developed, of all places, out of Pune, India. Using the Torque engine, it offers 3D graphics at a level of detail not often seen in indie projects, and reasonably smooth UI.
WASD to move, mouse look, left mouse button to fire, Q and R to cycle through weapons, space to jump, and hold E for binoculars. (One oddity is that you can apparently fire your weapon while using the binoculars -- the combination often allows you to take out enemies before you get too close.)
The gameplay is not highly polished -- my guess is that the developers viewed the game as mainly an art showcase -- and serious FPSers will find it pretty easy. But doing any kind of FPS on an indie budget is impressive, really, and it's entertaining enough. Single-player only, but then, the single player FPS is really an entirely different genre from the deathmatch game.
The story isn't even worth mentioning, except to note its absurdity. Just, you know, run and gun.

There's better.
The thing is, yes, the production value is quite nice, even if playing it I get what I call the Doom syndrome. Old games like Doom and Wolfenstein 3D make me dizzy and make me want to puke in the long run. Apart from that, the graphics were nice, and I liked the design of the arachnid monsters and the global architecture.
Storyline certainly is not the most important part of it, so you'd expect it to be action-packed. Well, not really, it's just little clusters of enemies that can hardly drain a little bit of your health, and are easily taken down. Plus, they're always the same, and there's just three types of them.
Compared to something similar, an intense no-brainer, Serious Sam is way above, thanks to the different ennemies, varied environements, weapons, and bosses.
So, in conclusion, I'd say that it is a nice effort, but looks too much like a pretty although empty shell.
